A Moving Image
04 Oct 2014 - 04 Jan 2015
Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton, AB
The exhibition A Moving Image features the video work of five contemporary artists of Israeli descent. Through narrative, documentary and poetic storytelling, Yael Bartana, Guy Ben-Ner, Omer Fast, Sigalit Landau and Nira Pereg provide critical new views on the deeply complex, yet very real political and social circumstances of the present day. Together the works in the exhibition address themes related to the image of borders and boundaries—of things that separate and connect people, of the resonance of the past in contemporary events, and of how experiences of conflict and attempts at resolution can be reimagined and expressed by contemporary artists.
Curated by Catherine Crowston and Josée Drouin-Brisebois, A Moving Image was produced by the Art Gallery of Alberta and the National Gallery of Canada as part of the National Gallery of Canada at the Art Gallery of Alberta partnership.
