These galleries present a selection of videos produced by Isuma
(“thinking”) productions and Arnait (“women’s”) video productions.
Based in Igloolik, Nunavut, Isuma and the women’s collective,
Arnait provide a place to produce community-based media.
Their work connects ancestral traditions with the present day.
Community elders and youth work together to express unique
cultural values using narrative and storytelling methods that are
culturally specific and share a distinctly magnificent world with
us. These films celebrate Inuit culture, the Inuktitut language,
and the Inuit way of life.
