Dyan Marie
Learning to Count THREE : Whirlwind, 1996

This image is part of a series on counting by Canadian artist Dyan Marie. Marie used a traditional camera to photograph the palm of her hand. The film was developed directly to a CD ROM. She added the three whorls and subtle colour using imaging software. For Marie, digital technology is an extension of the photographic process. She uses it to make new statements on universal themes.
