Edward Burtynsky
Makrana Marble Quarries #13, Rajasthan, India, 2000

This image is part of a series. Unlike his many series of traditional chromogenic prints, this is the only series to date that Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky planned as digital. Burtynsky shot the images using a large-format camera. He converted them to high-resolution digital images and made small adjustments. Then he printed the images on watercolour paper using a state-of-the-art drum ink-jet printer.
